Carine Brancowitz lives in France. She draws with BIC pens which requires patience but it’s not the only talent she has. Her work is also remarkable for all the stories she can tell with few elements in fact. It can deal with the girl next door or the young trendy guy we’ve all met but portrayed here with such nice details and colors that this everyday life becomes magical. In fact, when I look at one of these images, I just wish I could live in it!

Hella Jongerius makes objects we may give to our children as a precious heritage.

She works on the „psychologic durability“ of things around us, how to give them a true meaning, how to get a reasonable relationship between men & objects?

She’s dealing with ecology but mainly with consumption & the idea of focusing it on men, not on objects. She thinks that with a tighter & more priviledged link with objects, people tend not to throw them away or to replace them quickly. To achieve this precious link, it’s important to know where they’re produced, but not only. Her work starts with man’s look : the object has to be first functional & then should create emotion by the care to details given to its making. For this reason, craftwork is essential in Hella Jongerius‘ work even if she doesn’t reject industrial products : she worked with Ikea on large series of handmade painted vases to propose a mixed process where craft brings an additional soul to widespread industrial objects.
