NEW COLLECTION ONLINE !!,This blanket made of lambs wool is soft, and has a pretty yellow color that warms you when it is cold. Nor very big, neither very small, I tuck myself in it when I watch TV. It makes movies even better! In order not to spoil anything, it is made of wool from A.P.C. Archives by Lab, a beautiful brand with ateliers situated in France. It’s a kind of recycling!”

FrenchTrotters et lab. join their talents to create an exclusive household linen collection. The line is entirely made in France with the emblematic fabrics of the « preppy » style : check cotton, oxford & Liberty. You’ll discover soft feather cushions, a nice blue check duvet cover, a cosy eiderdown & a table set with orange piping that will light our summer diners up. For our babies bed, the very nice Claire-Aude Liberty fabric coordinated with a vanilla percale form an harmonious whole: a baby sleeper, a cot bumper, very soft little cushions & an eiderdown which can also be used as a comfortable playmat.

I shot the collection by Elodie Laléous in the beautiful apartment of Clarisse Demory, the founder of charming blog “ensuite”

I particularly love this item made especially for Julie by our workshop!
The top of the duvet cover is made with a white/grey striped cotton, the bottom with a very nice raspberry/coral linen. Between the 2 fabrics, on one side there’s a red piping & on the other side a grey one. Julie just has to turn the cover back to front to change the style of her room!
If you’d like to request our made on demand service, just have a look on the boutique to see the fabrics/styles you like and send your idea by email to: [email protected]
We reached out to Parisian furniture and fabric designer Elodie Laléous of Lab Boutique for our very first Raneytown interview. She is truly a sweetheart and we hope you enjoy her responses as much as we have.
What is Lab? Lab. is the company I launched a year ago, the idea was to propose a whole collection for home with items entirely made in France. I also use fabric coming from fashion brands archives such as A.P.C.
This is experimental in that way, trying to make a product which has low environmental impact, preserving French know-how and good design at affordable price.
What / where did you study? At IFM Institut Français de la mode, Design and Fashion Management
Who do you look up to? I’m trying to propose a design adapted to people’s new ways of living and more generally a good design applied to all the items surrounding us (textile design and not only furniture design). For instance I notice my friends are always with a laptop or smartphone in their flat and move with it. Therefore I think it’s almost cruel to make a desk room with a “computer” now because these apparels are linked to every actions in our life know. So there should be an object to help reading it more comfortably and place to hide it when you don’t use it anymore.
NEW COLLECTION ONLINE !!,Back from Première Vision, I wanted to share with you my passion for fabrics and talk about a old lady I met there. She collects vintage fabrics & sale them to people interested in the re-edition of those forgotten patterns. Of course I can’t show you any of these well-kept secret treasures but I made a small selection from a book offered by my sister years ago and that I preciously keep in my bookshelf.
-The first fabric is a Japanese print by the artist Itchiku Kubota made at the end of the XXth century. The fabric is sewed and tied before being dyed. This process is called shiburo meaning tied or wringed in Japanese.
-The second is a detail from a silk gauze made in the XIXth century at Okinawa & printed with a stencil. The plum-tree flowers or sunshades were very popular among the local aristocracy.
-The third is a weaved fabric made in Ghana in the 30′s. It’s a good example of very long sewed fabric bands.
-The fourth is made at the same time. The tapistry was created by Gunta Stolzl who ran the weaving workshop of the Bauhaus School from 1927 until 1930.

NEW COLLECTION ONLINE !!,Once I discovered Gesa Hansen furniture under “The Hansen Family” label, I immediatly wanted to meet her. It’s obvious that our work is very close with wood as a main material, with strong colors and the link to fashion. We also share a common inspiration from 50’s, to scandinavian design with a touch of droog design.
The idea of working together on a common furniture mixing textile and wood came very quickly. I’ll show you this furniture within few months…
Until then, I wanted to congratulate Gesa who just gave birth to her first child today!

Fotis Evans is a greek designer living in the UK. The shelves/feet desk or the modular table becoming a bookshelf : at the very first sight, one can see his furniture is beautiful as well as practical. Its modular design probably hides a wish of economy but what I truly find singular is the touch of humour that one feel behind his work. Indeed, it’s as if he was playing with daily objects and was inviting us to have an always renewed look on them.

Young girl and solex by Carine Brancowitz
Carine Brancowitz lives in France. She draws with BIC pens which requires patience but it’s not the only talent she has. Her work is also remarkable for all the stories she can tell with few elements in fact. It can deal with the girl next door or the young trendy guy we’ve all met but portrayed here with such nice details and colors that this everyday life becomes magical. In fact, when I look at one of these images, I just wish I could live in it!

Hella Jongerius works on VITRA color range
Hella Jongerius makes objects we may give to our children as a precious heritage.
She works on the „psychologic durability“ of things around us, how to give them a true meaning, how to get a reasonable relationship between men & objects?
She’s dealing with ecology but mainly with consumption & the idea of focusing it on men, not on objects. She thinks that with a tighter & more priviledged link with objects, people tend not to throw them away or to replace them quickly. To achieve this precious link, it’s important to know where they’re produced, but not only. Her work starts with man’s look : the object has to be first functional & then should create emotion by the care to details given to its making. For this reason, craftwork is essential in Hella Jongerius‘ work even if she doesn’t reject industrial products : she worked with Ikea on large series of handmade painted vases to propose a mixed process where craft brings an additional soul to widespread industrial objects.

Mixer by Dick Van Hoff
Mixing bowl by Dick Van Hoff
Blender by Dick Van Hoff
As many women raised by a former feminist, I would not really appreciate to receive any electrical domestic as a gift…. Yet, 3 appliances may be the exception but, as far as I know they are impossible to find because stayed at the prototype step. Here are these 3 little marvels designed by Dick Van Hoff and that seems to be fiddled in the backyard by an early Mister Dyson…One detail differs : theses appliances are not remarkable for their mecanical efficiency because they mainly work with elbow grease. But is it really important?! How snobbery is it to dedicate an entire cupboard of our 30 sq.m flat to a manual blender! No….to be honnest, if I had them I would display them in the middle of my flat! Perfect little artworks for housewifes…and ecologic! What a great idea!
If you like them too & wish with all your heart see them produced, take part to “Your turn to note”. Who knows if we are plenty of admirers…
